Stay in Provence in Grasse, the power of flowers
It is here that famous perfumes are born around the world: Chanel n ° 5, Eau Sauvage by Dior, Femme by Rochas … Grasse is the world’s perfume capital since the 17th century. A lovely city in the Alpes-Maritimes with landscapes dotted with fields of jasmine, roses and tuberose (the three basic flowers of perfumery), which guarantees an unforgettable journey to the land of scents. So why deprive yourself during your stay in Provence at the Domaine de Camiole?
Meet the perfumers
To reach Grasse by car, count between 30 min and 1 hour from your holiday rental in the Var, passing by the Draguignan road (D2562). On the spot, you will learn the precious know-how perpetrated during four centuries: extraction, distillation, enfleurage and fragrance formulas. The famous names of the luxury perfumery organize free guided tours: Fragonard, Guy Bouchara, La Bastides Arômes … Do not miss the treasures of Molinard (boulevard Victor Hugo): very old machines and 19th century conditioning rooms.
A workshop to create your own perfume
At Fragonard, meet perfume masters who will share the secrets of the alchemy of perfumes. And for an introduction to the trade, participate in one of the workshops (in the studio of Fragances for example). A “nose” will teach you the basics and guide you through the lab to create your own fragrance. In addition to elaborating the formula, you will be able to choose the bottle and go back in your holiday rental in the Var with your own creation! Finally, to be at the forefront, visit the International Museum of Perfumery which delivers an anthropological approach to the history of fragrances.
